Greyhound Muses.

While looking through the internet
Reviewing Greyhound sites,
I stopped at one called "Greyhound Muses"
And stayed there most the night.

I was taken by the caring words
The poems seemed to say,
About the way that verse was used
When Greyhounds go away.

The bond that seemed to me to be
Between Master and the pet,
Was not only quite substantial
But in concrete it was set.

Time and time again I read
There was a solemn pledge,
Arrangements were made to meet again
At a place called "Rainbow Bridge".

After awhile I looked down
At my two Greyhounds by my chair.
They both were sleeping so peacefully,
But both of them were there.

No "Rainbow Bridge" for me this day,
For they were heaven-sent.
I pledged I would take care of them
For the short time they were lent.

I know that someday I'll look down
And find that they're not there.
I know that someday I'll reach down
And gently rub the air.

The words I read on this special site
Will help me through tomorrow.
I'll remember those whose words I've read,
Strength from their emotions I will borrow.

While looking through the internet
Reviewing Greyhound sites,
I stopped at one called "Greyhound Muses"
And stayed there most the night.
